A Letter From the Founder

The GloJoy brand was never supposed to be a ministry. But somehow… it became one.

Not too long ago, we lost the Joy behind GloJoy Co. Losing Tamara changed everything. It made me look back at what we built and realize it was never just about construction. It was never just about getting projects done or growing a company. It was always about people. About purpose. About showing up for something bigger than ourselves even when we didn’t fully understand what that was yet.

We met over 15 years ago working in a luxury real estate office in Manhattan. Just two girls talking about fashion, boys, and real estate we definitely could not afford at the time. New York has a way of humbling you like that. But it also has a way of pushing you. It teaches you how to move, how to think bigger, how to keep going when things get hard. That’s where the foundation was built. Not GloJoy the company, but the mindset behind it. Years later, that turned into GloJoy.

And if I’m being real… GloJoy was built by misfits, for other misfits. Because that’s what this industry is, whether people want to admit it or not. So many of us were told growing up that the trades were the backup plan. That if you really “made it” you’d be sitting behind a desk somewhere, staring at a screen all day. And listen… we need those people too. Nothing gets built without them. But that was never the dream for everyone. Some of us are meant to be outside. Moving. Building. Leading teams. Figuring things out in real time. Creating something physical that didn’t exist before. There’s a little bit of everything in this industry. That’s what makes it work.

About a year and a half ago when Tamara received a cancer diagnosis, everything sped up. Decisions we thought we had years to make suddenly had to be made right then. So we did. I stepped away from the day to day in New York. We put structure in place. Trusted our people. Let go of control in ways that honestly didn’t feel comfortable at the time. By December 2025, we made the call to fully step away from the New York operations and pass our projects to partners we trust. People who could carry the standard we built.

That wasn’t easy, but it felt right. Now GloJoy looks different. I’m not in the field every day running jobs the way I used to. We’re operating more as partners, advisors, connectors. Helping people build smarter. Aligning the right teams. Thinking bigger picture. And stepping into development… that’s the next move. Will it all happen in 2026? I don’t know. Maybe not. But also… why not.

At this point, I’ve learned that timelines aren’t really ours to control. What I do know is, none of this was random. Not the way we met. Not the business. Not even the loss. This next chapter… it’s for her.

If you need a contractor in the Northeast or Southern U.S., we’ll connect you with people we trust. People who actually care about the work and the outcome. And if you’ve ever felt like you didn’t quite fit the mold in your career…you’re not off track. You might actually be exactly where you’re supposed to be.
